Paul is an artist in Austin, Texas who enjoys painting outdoors in plein air. He also sometimes paint from pictures of places he’s been and do miniature reproductions of artists that inspire him.

Emile Zola wrote a good painting is a patch of nature seen through a temperament. To him, a painting visually translates what the artist was thinking and feeling at that particular space in time. The labor needed to mix and dab colors onto a flat surface is minimal, the inspiration to do it is elusive, and getting the right effect is nearly impossible. When it all works, it makes him happy.
